Jayesh Shah

Jayesh Shah, the Group Managing Director and CEO of Sumaria Group, is a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management (Marketing) from the University of Lancaster, UK. He joined the family business in 1982 and has been instrumental in the exponential growth of the group from having a small presence in Tanzania to a conglomerate operating across various countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and also overseas having interests in trade and manufacturing. In addition to having served on various boards of the group companies as Chairman, he has also been a Non Executive Director of the International School of Tanganyika and Standard Chartered Bank, Dar es Salaam. He is currently the Non Executive director of Alliance Insurance Corporation Limited, Dar es Salaam and Management and Development for Health (MDH) Tanzania. In addition, he holds the position of Vice Chairman of Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI), an independent, self-financed, legally constituted organization that aims to ensure that there is a conducive legal, financial and economic environment within which industry can operate effectively, prosper and contribute to national wealth and development as well as the Chairman of CTI’s Infrastructure Development Committee.
